I studied Architecture at University and am a registered architect. Through my studies and practical experience in architecture I became involved in interior design
I like the idea of helping others develop their interest in the field of design.
A keen eye for detail and a sound understanding of harmonious spaces.
I have really enjoyed working on residential projects such as Russell Lea House, and working collaboratively with the client.
My philosophy is to assist students with understanding the principles rather than grading them specifically on their design style. I believe a design style can (and will) develop over time, however the foundation to everything is having a sound understanding of the principles that are influential to good design.
Some key skills that I focus on are ensuring that scale is correct and understanding negative space. Also ensuring that drawings are a true representation of a proposed design.
I would describe my design style as contemporary with use of materials that have a sense of timelessness. I draw inspiration from nature and by researching precedents.
I try to stay in touch with what other designers are doing (no one designer specifically), using tools such as social media.
Seeing that my students are enjoying learning about design.
Always look to keep honing and developing your skills, and keep looking to continually evolve your design style.
