From a young age, I always knew what I wanted to do. After finishing school, I went straight to university, where I studied and completed a bachelor's degree in architecture. I then gained valuable experience working at several firms before opening my own practice in 2011. My inspiration has always been to leave a legacy through design, creating environments that enable people to live their best lives by feeling comfortable and inspired in their surroundings.
Since I was a child, I have always been interested in architecture and design. I vividly recall sitting with my grandfather, drawing houses from around the age of 5 or 6. I am certainly living out my childhood dream.

My mornings are important to me. They either set you up for an accomplished day or not. I usually start the day with a short workout, a light breakfast, and then head straight to the office. No two days in the office are the same. It’s often a mix of client meetings, on-site visits, and design workshops with my team.
I would describe my design style as contemporary, with a strong emphasis on timelessness, user experience, and sustainability. My approach is to integrate modern aesthetics with classic elements to create designs that remain relevant and appealing over time. I’m always thinking about the user experience, ensuring that each design is not only visually engaging but also functional.

I draw inspiration from various sources, including nature, fellow industry professionals, and personal experiences.
Essential skills include the ability to understand and listen to what the client wants, rather than imposing personal preferences. Strong creativity, an eye for detail, and a solid understanding of design principles are crucial. Additionally, effective communication skills, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities are vital.

Exceptional interior designers stand out due to their ability to stay current with the latest trends and innovations. They possess a keen eye for detail, an innate sense of style, and the ability to transform spaces while balancing functionality and aesthetics.
I love that the course is structured to accommodate a wide audience. It can be a stepping stone for someone wanting to make a career in interior design, a basis for someone to familiarise themselves with the industry while planning a personal project, or a resource for those with a casual interest in design.

My favourite part about being an Interior Design Tutor is witnessing how students engage with design to fuel their creativity. It's incredibly rewarding to see their skills develop and their confidence grow as they explore different design concepts. Guiding them through this process and watching their unique perspectives emerge is both inspiring and fulfilling.
My advice to students is to embrace the learning process and not be afraid to make mistakes. Seek inspiration from a wide range of sources and continuously challenge yourself.
